Accuracy performance of artificial intelligence shopping tools examined
A new study reveals the error rates of popular AI tools in shopping queries and ranks the platforms.
As consumers turn to artificial intelligence tools to find discounts, a new study has brought to light errors in price and product information across popular platforms.
Artificial Intelligence and Shopping
Approximately 40 percent of consumers utilize artificial intelligence tools in their shopping processes. The research reveals that platforms vary in terms of reliability.
Research Methodology
Conducted by Product AI, the study evaluated ChatGPT, Gemini, Claude, and Perplexity platforms. A total of 220 shopping queries across nine different categories were posed, and the results were recorded.
Identified Errors
As a result of the research, various errors were determined to exist across the platforms. Errors were detected in MacBook prices, sun cream protection factors, and headphone battery life.
Ranking of Platforms
Among the tested models, Perplexity showed the best performance, while Claude ranked third and ChatGPT placed second. Gemini remained in last place.
Google's Statements
Google objected to the validity of the study, stating that the research used software aimed at developers rather than the consumer-focused Gemini application.
