AI-Focused Educational Solutions Developed at University
The University of Utah hosted its second hackathon event producing solutions to problems in education using artificial intelligence and data science.
Organized by the University of Utah One-U Responsible AI Initiative, the second Minds and Machines: AI in Education Hackathon brought together 102 participants from 26 teams.
Event Details and Participation
Lasting 48 hours in mid-September, the hackathon aimed to apply data science and artificial intelligence technologies to real-world classroom problems.
The event was not limited to university students only, but also attracted industry professionals and participants from six different universities.
Winning Projects
As a result of the competition, Team Mindstone won first place with the AccessLens project, while Patient Zero took second and Team Dori placed third.
Additionally, the teams Mithril: Assign, Pebble, and Utah TRAIL Lab were deemed worthy of honorable mention awards by the jury.
