AI-Focused Research Alliance Formed by Chinese Mathematicians
A new alliance established in Beijing under the leadership of Fields Medalist Shing-Tung Yau aims to use artificial intelligence in mathematical research, amid warnings that China has fallen behind the US.
Leading Chinese mathematicians have joined forces at an event held in the capital, Beijing, to integrate artificial intelligence into mathematical research.
New Alliance Established in Beijing
The Yau Mathematical and Artificial Intelligence Laboratories Alliance, spearheaded by Fields Medalist Shing-Tung Yau, was officially established in Beijing.
This new structure came into operation following warnings that China has fallen behind the US in the use of artificial intelligence within pioneering scientific fields.
Targeted Scientist Network
Within the framework of this newly established alliance, eight leading institutions aim to come together to build a broad network consisting of over a thousand scientists.
The opening ceremony was attended by institutions such as Tsinghua University's Qiuzhen College and the Beijing Institute of Mathematical Sciences and Applications, alongside numerous experts.
AI Models and Research Focuses
The alliance's core focuses include developing specialized artificial intelligence models for mathematics and leveraging the technology.
Additionally, the goals include formalizing theorem proofs and building systems whose reasoning processes are easier to interpret.
