Details of the Shopping Ban
Amazon has decided to prevent Meta's AI assistant Muse from making purchases on its platform on behalf of users. This move was carried out as part of measures taken against unauthorized artificial intelligence access on the system.
A pop-up message displayed to Muse users explicitly stated that the continued access provided by an unauthorized AI agent violates Amazon's terms of use.
Privacy and Security Concerns
An Amazon spokesperson emphasized that third-party applications offering purchasing services on behalf of customers must operate transparently and respect the service provider's decisions. The platform shared concerns over Muse failing to identify itself while browsing and its potential to capture customer credentials.
Meta had previously stated that Muse could not see secure login details or card payment information. However, various privacy concerns continue to be raised since the launch of the AI tool.
