Fei-Fei Li's New Role

As a result of this acquisition, World Labs founder Fei-Fei Li will serve as executive vice president and chief scientist within AMD.

Li, a computer science professor at Stanford University, is known as a pioneering figure in AI and computer vision through her work on the ImageNet database.

Hardware and Research Partnership

AMD stated that understanding pioneering workloads like World Labs will shape its chip manufacturing roadmap, noting that this step was taken out of a desire to integrate more closely with hardware.

Last year, a partnership was established between the two companies on inference optimization and training, and relationships were kept close, including guest appearances at CES presentations.
