Gathered at the 2026 Autodesk University conference in Las Vegas, the software giant announced comprehensive artificial intelligence innovations and an autonomous assistant system targeted at the architecture and engineering sectors.

Conference and Attendance Details

Held at the Venetian Expo in Las Vegas, the 2026 Autodesk University conference brought together approximately 12,000 attendees. The event focused on artificial intelligence innovations developed for architects and engineers.

Forma and Revit Innovations

The cloud-based BIM platform Autodesk Forma and Revit are being updated with artificial intelligence tools such as the Building Layout Explorer, which can configure apartments for an entire building. Additionally, features summarizing customer requests and tracking costs are being added.

Autonomous Autodesk Assistant

The most significant announcement was the autonomous Autodesk Assistant, designed to complete complex tasks and scheduled to begin rollout in 2027. An Orchestrator system that selects appropriate artificial intelligence models for specific tasks was also introduced at the event.

Industry Discussions and Vendor Tools

While it was noted that artificial intelligence will eliminate routine tasks, the systems making critical design choices raised questions about the future role of architects. Arkyv's code compliance plugin and Maestro's toolbar platform were also showcased on the conference floor.
