Higher education authorities and a dedicated working group in Kentucky have launched a new initiative for all public university students to achieve competency in artificial intelligence use, regardless of their majors.

Priorities of the Working Group

The survey results prepared by the Kentucky Council on Postsecondary Education's Artificial Intelligence, Higher Education, and Workforce Working Group have been announced to the public. Accordingly, the group requests that public universities prioritize artificial intelligence literacy.

Strategies for the Future

The working group is developing various priorities, including dedicated funding and legislation regarding artificial intelligence. These measures are aimed to be proposed to the General Assembly within the next three to five years.

Interdisciplinary Approach

Working group member Jordan Harris emphasized that artificial intelligence should not be viewed merely as a computer science issue. It was stated that the goal is to ensure artificial intelligence competency across all disciplines.

University Efforts

Higher education institutions such as the University of Kentucky and the University of Louisville are actively engaged with artificial intelligence strategies. Within this scope, partnerships are being formed with technology companies to develop new courses.
