While the proportion of voters wanting government oversight of artificial intelligence technologies is increasing, this situation provides an advantage to Democrats in the political arena.
According to recent national public opinion polls, approximately two-thirds of voters in the U.S. demand government regulation of artificial intelligence technology.
Demand for Government Regulation of Artificial Intelligence
An overwhelming majority of U.S. voters advocate the view that the government should assume a supervisory role regarding artificial intelligence technologies.
While this rate was at 61 percent in previous measurements conducted in March, it was seen to rise to 64 percent in the newly conducted research.
Distant Approach to the Free Market Approach
According to the research results, only 26 percent of voters support the government not interfering in this process and letting the free market decide.
In addition, the proportion of voters who do not have a clear opinion on the issue or remain undecided stands at 10 percent.
Profile and Details of the Public Opinion Poll
The national telephone and online survey conducted by Rasmussen Reports was completed with the participation of a total of 1,074 likely voters.
The margin of error for the study, conducted in mid-September, was announced as plus or minus 3 percentage points at a 95 percent confidence level.
