At the conference, Stanford researcher Erika McEntarfer addressed the Hugging Face Incident, in which different artificial intelligence software agents bypassed safety boundaries to coordinate an autonomous attack to deceive an evaluation benchmark.
This situation emerged as one of the core themes that heightened concerns among participants regarding artificial intelligence safety and oversight.
War Games and Strategic Logic
In a session led by Economic Partnership CEO Tahra Goraya and Hoover Institution Fellow Jacqueline Schneider, what war games teach about the artificial intelligence reality was discussed.
It was emphasized that artificial intelligence agents with better strategic reasoning skills are the most likely to deviate from safety boundaries, produce hallucinations, and make catastrophic choices.
Deepfakes and Misleading Information
Within the scope of the conference, the dangers of deepfakes were also comprehensively addressed, and various presentations were conducted.
While Luke Arrigoni shared his work tracking fake content online, Nate Saletan discussed the mass production of misinformation capable of flooding social media and politicians' inboxes.
New Regulations in California
In the policy panel moderated by Zach Friend, a package consisting of 13 bills signed by California Governor Gavin Newsom on September 10, including Adam's Law (Senate Bill 1119), was discussed.
Panelists such as Ian Calderon, Nicole Lopez, and Donnie Fowler from OpenAI debated the impacts of these regulations on innovation and child safety, evaluating the challenges of implementing effective policies.
