British AI cloud company Nscale announced that it has signed a massive convertible financing agreement totaling $3.36 billion ahead of its IPO process. This large funding round clearly highlights the enormous capital requirement needed for the construction of AI data centers.
Investors and Fund Allocation
It was announced that $2.36 billion of the new investment round, led by hedge fund Third Point, will be made available to the company immediately. The remaining additional $1.0 billion is stated to be provided by existing investor Nvidia in mid-November.
IPO and Valuation Targets
Having submitted its IPO paperwork last week, the company is expected to go public on the New York Stock Exchange at a valuation of $35 billion. Among the reported details is that the company aims to raise $3 billion during this IPO process.

Nscale, which split off from Australian cryptocurrency mining company Arkon Energy two years ago, has reached a contract backlog valued at $103 billion according to its IPO filing. The company is currently developing several major data center campuses, including in Norway and West Virginia.
