Central Michigan University Forms Alliance for Artificial Intelligence Education and Inclusion
Black Women in Artificial Intelligence, founded by alumna Angle Bush, is partnering with CMU and NVIDIA to expand AI education and workforce development.
Central Michigan University alumna Angle Bush, alongside her company Black Women in Artificial Intelligence, has entered into a comprehensive partnership with the university and NVIDIA to increase AI education and community access.
Representation in AI and Founding Story
Angle Bush, a two-time graduate of Central Michigan University, aims for the responsible and creative use of artificial intelligence. Bush, who started her research in 2019 attempting to build a robot that would bring hot chocolate, noticed the lack of representation in the sector, founded Black Women in Artificial Intelligence in 2020, and was named to the TIME100 AI list in August 2026.
Five-Year Strategic Framework and NVIDIA Partnership
Thanks to Bush's industry connections, a strong bridge was built between Central Michigan University and NVIDIA. Within this scope, CMU, BWIAI, and NVIDIA established an informal five-year framework agreement to expand education, research, workforce development, and regional engagement. Angle Bush also serves on the CMU College of Science and Engineering's Science and Engineering Advisory Board.
Student Preparation and Access Goals in Rural Areas
Ben Andera, executive director of academic and research computing at CMU, stated that this collaboration will play a major role in preparing students for the workforce of the future. Kaleb Patrick, vice president of CMU Online, emphasized that fair access to technology will be ensured by involving local organizations, especially in rural communities.
Current Programs and NVIDIA Ambassadors
Central Michigan University currently offers various programs such as an applied artificial intelligence minor and a master's certificate in artificial intelligence for learning, design, and technology. Additionally, university faculty members Jesse Eickholt and Razi Iqbal completed their training and received the official NVIDIA Ambassador title.
