China and US Establish AI Safety Line and Trade Talks

Following a three-day summit in Washington between President Xi Jinping and President Donald Trump, China and the United States have agreed to establish a communication channel to address AI-related incidents and to accelerate military crisis communication.

Following a three-day summit held in Washington, China and the United States decided to establish a communication channel to handle AI-related incidents.

The governments of both countries announced that work on military crisis communication will be accelerated and a dedicated dialogue on artificial intelligence will be held in November.

Trade Steps and Tariffs

The parties agreed to continue cooperation through a Trade Council focusing on selected bilateral issues, and this council began operating this week.

According to the Chinese side's statement, joint work will continue on the commitment to reduce mutual customs tariffs on goods valued at approximately 30 billion dollars.

Coal and Rare Earth Elements

In a statement made by the White House, it was stated that China agreed to import at least 10 million metric tons of coal from the US in 2027 and 2028.

Additionally, the two sides continued working on rare earth elements to address American concerns with the goal of ensuring shipments return to appropriate levels.

Future Summits and International Issues

The leaders of the two countries agreed to meet in November at the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation summit in Shenzhen, China, and later at the G20 meeting in Florida.

Both governments emphasized that Iran must remain committed to its pledge not to develop nuclear weapons, while pointing out that no country should demand tolls in international waters.
