The Cyberspace Administration of China reported that more than 5.61 million pieces of harmful or illegal content were cleaned up as part of its recent inspection operation.

This stringent regulatory move affected 2,400 websites and apps, encompassing the country's largest digital spaces such as Douyin, Kuaishou, RedNote, and WeChat under Tencent Holdings.

Authorities focused on bringing under control AI-backed fake news, obscene and violent materials, as well as impersonation cases and situations violating the safety of minors.

Literary Works and Misleading Campaigns

Literary classics such as Romance of the Three Kingdoms and Journey to the West were turned into sensational and low-quality content to drive traffic; furthermore, deceptive marketing campaigns targeting elderly users were conducted.
