Nationwide, the Federal Bureau of Investigation received more than 22,000 artificial intelligence-related complaints, causing over $890 million in financial damage to victims.

Investment Scams

Artificial intelligence is used as a tool or medium in crimes such as investment scams, business email compromise, confidence and romance scams, and employment-focused voice cloning. Investment scams alone caused over $600 million in damages in 2025.
