Artificial Intelligence Transformation in Global Employment
International Monetary Fund Managing Director Kristalina Georgieva stated that while artificial intelligence supports global economic growth, it could lead to profound changes in the labor market.
Growth Contribution to Asian Economies
Georgieva noted that artificial intelligence could increase the growth rate of Asian economies by 0.5 to 1 percentage point and also contribute to developing countries in the region.
Labor Market and Young Workers
According to IMF projections, over time artificial intelligence could enhance the skills of workers in 40 percent of existing jobs or eliminate certain positions entirely.
Georgieva shared concerns that young people newly entering the labor market and those working in routine tasks would be most affected by this transformation.
Public Finance and Tax Revenues
It was emphasized that changes in employment structures could affect how governments collect future tax revenues and raise new questions regarding public finance.
