Zelenskyy says Russia strikes energy facilities despite Trump claim of an energy ceasefire

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy announced that despite U.S. President Donald Trump's announcement that the parties had agreed to halt attacks on each other's energy infrastructure, Russia continues to target energy facilities in Ukraine.

Zelenskyy's Statements

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy stated on Monday that Ukraine is willing to halt attacks on Russia's energy infrastructure. However, he stated that hours after Trump's energy ceasefire announcement, the Moscow administration struck a power plant, a gas production facility, and a civilian gas station in Kharkiv.

Trump and the Kremlin's Stance

U.S. President Donald Trump claimed in statements to reporters at the White House on Monday that, at his request, the parties had agreed to an energy ceasefire. When asked about Russia's attacks, Trump stated that violations may have occurred by both sides and that he needs to look into the situation. Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov, on the other hand, did not make a clear statement on whether Russia had accepted a ceasefire, stating that contacts are ongoing.

Attacks and Casualties

In a Russian drone strike that hit an apartment building in Kyiv on Monday evening, two people lost their lives and nine people were injured. In another attack carried out in the village of Pisochyn in the Kharkiv region, three people, including children, lost their lives and nine people were injured. The Ukrainian Air Force reported that 89 out of 121 Russian drones launched overnight were shot down or electronically neutralized.
