Israel's Use of Artificial Intelligence Tools in West Bank Demolitions

Israel has started using the AI-based ImiSight platform to detect changes in Palestinian land, identify alleged unauthorized structures, and accelerate forced demolitions. Rights defenders view this situation as a step toward forced displacement and annexation.

Area of Use for the ImiSight Platform

Among the artificial intelligence tools used by Israel is the ImiSight platform, developed by Rafael. This technology is deployed to monitor large tracts of land and observe landscape changes that can serve as grounds for demolitions.

The platform in question was first tested in unrecognized Bedouin villages in the Negev desert and was subsequently moved to the occupied West Bank.

Demolition Data in the West Bank

According to data from Israeli human rights organizations Peace Now and Kerem Navot, demolitions have increased significantly in Area C and occupied East Jerusalem. Between 2023 and 2025, an annual average of 966 buildings were demolished.

In the first nine months of 2025 alone, 1,288 Palestinian structures were leveled by Israeli forces.

Artificial Intelligence and Satellite Technologies

New-generation satellites are capable of processing images while still in space, thanks to artificial intelligence algorithms. Experts state that this system bypasses traditional human oversight and accelerates the processes.

Algorithms scan large areas, significantly shortening the warning and demolition processes targeting structures.

Settlement Expansion and Rights Violations

Between 2023 and 2025, the Israeli government approved more than forty settlement plans and established numerous new outposts. Under international law, these structures are considered illegal.

During the same period, over a hundred Palestinian shepherd communities were displaced from the region across the West Bank.
