Kalshi's AI Compute Price Tracker Pulled Over National Security Concerns

The U.S. Department of Commerce has asked the Kalshi platform to pull its product tracking future prices for artificial intelligence compute power due to national security concerns.

Kalshi's Product and Removal Process

The Trump administration has reportedly halted part of Kalshi's efforts to establish a futures market for artificial intelligence compute power. U.S. Department of Commerce officials requested last month that the company remove the product tracking future compute power prices from publication.

Compute Curves and Markets

Kalshi had launched these curves in July for certain Nvidia chips. These charts were intended to show the future market price of a one-hour rental fee for a specific graphics processing unit and were not directly tradable.

Steps Taken by Regulatory Bodies

It was also stated that the Department of Commerce pressured the Commodity Futures Trading Commission to freeze the approval of new compute power derivative contracts for 60 days. The commission had initiated a 60-day public comment period on compute power derivatives in August.
