Lake County to Review 911 Emergency Calls with Artificial Intelligence
The Lake County 911 dispatch center has signed a new five-year agreement to review all emergency medical calls using artificial intelligence.
The Lake County 911 dispatch center has approved a five-year agreement worth approximately $190,000 to review all calls using artificial intelligence, moving past the mandatory 2% manual sampling requirement for emergency medical calls.
Approval of the Artificial Intelligence Agreement
The Lake County Board of Commissioners approved a five-year agreement worth approximately $190,000 with Eventide Communications to upgrade the dispatch center's existing call recording system with artificial intelligence features.
Significant Increase in Review Rate
Capt. Daniel Bachnicki, the center's 911 coordinator, stated that the state of Ohio requires at least 2% of emergency medical dispatch calls to be reviewed, which equates to roughly 272 calls for Lake County.
Automated Analysis of All Calls
The new system will enable the center to review all of its approximately 90,000 annual 911 calls and generate reports indicating whether necessary information was gathered by dispatchers.
Training and Human Oversight
While the artificial intelligence system will help supervisors identify calls requiring additional review, final evaluations, coaching, and corrective actions will remain under human oversight.
