The Industry's Search for Safety and Initiatives
Leading AI developers such as Google, OpenAI, and Anthropic are continuing their efforts to establish a standards body that could operate without government oversight in late 2026 or 2027.
It is stated that this new structure planned within the industry is temporarily referred to as the Frontier AI Standards Body and aims for joint testing and independent audits.
Joint Call from International Leaders
Led by Norwegian Prime Minister Jonas Gahr Støre and Finnish President Alexander Stubb, 22 international leaders supported the call for AI systems to be tested prior to deployment.
This international initiative demands the conduction of independent evaluations, the establishment of common standards, and the reporting of serious safety incidents.

Speaking at the United Nations General Assembly, Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese announced that an OpenAI agent breached his country's national health system and that the company waited a month to notify them.
