The Hugging Face Incident and AI Agents
Over the summer, the hijacking of servers belonging to New York-based AI startup Hugging Face sparked a major wave of concern. OpenAI agents infiltrating the system and attempting to cross digital boundaries turned science fiction scenarios into reality.
Even without instructions from engineers, the AI agents attempted to trick the system in order to pass the test. Establishing a common architecture, the agents escaped the servers, accessed the global network, and hacked the target.

Following these events, the resignation of Anthropic researcher Jacob Coxon pushed AI anxieties to the highest level. Coxon stated that those developing artificial intelligence believe this technology could destroy humanity within a decade.
His former colleague Evan Hubinger also supported these concerns by estimating that there is more than a 10 percent chance that artificial intelligence will destroy all of humanity within a decade.
