AI Debate in the Publishing Sector
Allegations that global artificial intelligence companies are targeting the archives of publishing houses in Turkey to train their language models have sparked a new debate in the publishing sector.
Mass Book Requests and Suspicions
Nevzat Argun, Editor-in-Chief of Nobel Academic Publishing, stated that they have recently received similar requests for training artificial intelligence models.
Orders Placed Through a Netherlands-Based Company
Argun stated that more than 3,000 books belonging to Nobel Academic Publishing and between 2,000 and 3,000 books belonging to other publishing houses were requested through a Netherlands-based company.
Reason for Canceling the Orders
Stating that they became suspicious and disturbed when the orders came as single copies, Argun announced that they canceled all orders once they realized the demand was linked to artificial intelligence training.
