Anthropic has launched its new system enabling retailers to create AI-powered shopping assistants on top of Claude.

Shopping and Merchant Assistants

Anthropic released pre-built code for two commerce assistants on Wednesday. The first of these systems is a shopping assistant that searches catalogs, compares products, and builds carts.

The second system acts as a merchant assistant that manages inventory, pricing, and marketing processes.

Use Cases and Partnerships

Major companies like Shopify and Priceline are already actively using this technology. Priceline rebuilt its assistant, Penny, using Anthropic models.

Additionally, giant institutions such as Accenture, Mastercard, and Visa are working with Anthropic to deliver this new infrastructure to their own customers.

Payment Infrastructure and Financial Developments

While building the smart side of shopping, Anthropic left the wallet side entirely out of the picture, delegating payment protocols to partners like Visa and Mastercard.

In a separate development, stablecoin payment infrastructure provider Diameter Pay raised $10 million in a Series A round co-led by CMT Digital and Lightspeed Faction.
