Barclays Expands AI Integration Through Partnership with Anthropic
UK-based bank Barclays is expanding its strategic partnership to deploy Anthropic's artificial intelligence tools widely across software engineering and global operations.
Barclays aims for half of its developers to use Anthropic's AI-powered coding tool, Claude Code, by the end of the year and is integrating the technology into its global operations.
Artificial Intelligence Goals
Barclays expects the proportion of developers using Anthropic's Claude Code tool to reach fifty percent by the end of the year. This rate will be increased to cover the majority of developers toward the end of 2027.
Strategic Collaboration
The increasing adoption rate of Claude Code forms a significant part of the expanded strategic partnership between the bank and the artificial intelligence company. During this process, the bank aims to spread AI systems across its global operations as a whole.
Software and Security
Barclays Group Co-Chief Operating Officer Craig Bright stated that artificial intelligence systems are reshaping software engineering and cybersecurity. Through these technologies, legacy platforms are being modernized and complex problems are being solved.
Current Applications
The two institutions have previously implemented various artificial intelligence systems. These include the Colleague Knowledge Assistant, which is used by more than 16,000 personnel in the UK.

Barclays Group Co-Chief Operating Officer Ann Marie Darling stated that the use of artificial intelligence will accelerate decision-making processes and reduce the time spent on routine tasks.
