China Responds to US AI Stigmatization
Beijing has rejected accusations from US intelligence agencies regarding the malicious copying of AI model data and has opposed the decision.
Following a joint warning from United States cybersecurity agencies alleging that Chinese developers are maliciously copying advanced American AI models, a stern response has come from Beijing.
Joint Report by US Agencies
The US Federal Bureau of Investigation, the National Security Agency, and the Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency have issued a joint cybersecurity advisory.
The published report alleges that since late 2024, Chinese AI developers have been extracting capabilities from advanced American AI models or copying them through a method known as distillation.

The Chinese Ministry of Commerce has characterized the US allegations as completely baseless and accused the Washington administration of attempting to establish a monopoly in the AI industry.
The Ministry also emphasized that model distillation is a common practice used worldwide, warning that resolute countermeasures will be taken if the pressure continues.
Upcoming Leaders' Summit
Following this technological and diplomatic tension, AI governance issues are expected to be addressed in the meetings planned between US President Donald Trump and Chinese leader Xi Jinping later this month.
