According to a newly released Reuters/Ipsos poll, a large portion of U.S. voters state that the federal government is falling short regarding the potential risks of artificial intelligence and that stricter regulations are needed.
Poll Results and Voter Opinions
Fifty-seven percent of respondents to the Reuters/Ipsos poll stated that the Trump administration, and 54 percent stated that Congress, are not taking the risks of artificial intelligence seriously enough. A significant portion of participants harbor concerns that the technology could spin out of control.
Support Across Political Parties
According to the research findings, 80 percent of Democrats and 61 percent of Republicans support the idea of stricter government regulations on artificial intelligence. This indicates a strong bipartisan consensus on the issue.
Data Centers and Employment Concerns
While 56 percent of voters support imposing restrictions on the construction of new data centers, 84 percent of participants argue that artificial intelligence poses a threat to the American workforce.

While President Trump advocates for rapid development and opposes strict rules, the administration highlights voluntary oversight and self-regulation commitments made with industry leaders.
