Microsoft Grants Copilot AI More Control Over Windows and Local Files

At a Windows and Surface event, Microsoft unveiled new capabilities for its Copilot AI system, allowing it to access local files and execute operations system-wide.
The Era of Hybrid Intelligence
Microsoft announced its Hybrid Intelligence initiative, combining local and cloud-based AI models to enable tasks to be completed more efficiently.
File Management with Autopilot
During a video demonstration, Jacob Andreou, Vice President of Copilot, showcased an AI agent called Autopilot that assists with procedures such as tax returns.
This agent performed tasks such as searching folders, renaming files, archiving them, and drafting an email according to an accountant's request.
Rollout Schedule for AI Features
The new features powered by the Hybrid Intelligence infrastructure are planned to be rolled out to Copilot users over the coming months.
New Windows Search Experience
Microsoft also introduced a new Windows search experience that enables quick actions to be performed directly through the search bar.
Including functions such as enabling dark mode, adjusting microphone volume, and sending messages, this feature was announced by Windows and Surface chief Pavan Davuluri.
