Museum Pass Feature Integrated into Republic of Türkiye Identity Cards
With a project implemented by the Ministry of Culture and Tourism, a new era begins allowing entry to 216 museums and archaeological sites using identity cards without waiting in ticket lines.
As part of a digital transformation project launched by the Ministry of Culture and Tourism, the Museum Pass function is being integrated into Republic of Türkiye identity cards. Thanks to the application covering 216 museums and archaeological sites across Turkey, citizens will be able to enter directly by scanning their identity cards at turnstiles without having to wait in line at ticket offices.
Scope and Details of the Project
The Ministry of Culture and Tourism is carrying out a comprehensive digital transformation project to facilitate access to Turkey's cultural heritage and bring the museum experience together with modern technologies.
Ticket Lines Become History
With the new system, Republic of Türkiye identity cards will replace expired Museum Passes, and current cards will remain valid until their expiration dates.
How Entries Will Be Made
Citizens will be able to make quick entries by simply scanning their identity cards at the turnstiles after completing payment transactions via e-Government or the relevant mobile application.
Completion Schedule
As a result of evaluations made within the Ministry, this system, which will provide fast and uninterrupted access throughout Turkey, is targeted to be completely finished by the end of 2026.
Advanced Technologies Being Integrated
The transformation process will not be limited only to ticketing procedures, but will equip museums with fiber infrastructure, 5G integration, artificial intelligence, and augmented reality applications.
Data Security and Domestic Infrastructure
Within the scope of data security, which is one of the most critical stages of the project, strategic data belonging to the country's cultural heritage will be preserved in domestic infrastructures within the country.
