Northside ISD to offer ChatGPT for Teachers with new OpenAI partnership

Northside Independent School District, San Antonio's largest school district, has announced an official partnership with OpenAI for the ChatGPT for Teachers program, which will be available to educators starting in October.

Launching in October

Northside Independent School District, the largest school district in San Antonio, plans to launch the artificial intelligence tool for teachers in October.

District administration stated that the use of this tool will not be mandatory, but rather an additional resource available for teachers to utilize in supporting their work.

Priority on Data Security and Privacy

Assistant Superintendent for Technology Services Kris Trejo stated that staff are already using free artificial intelligence tools, and this partnership ensures information security and data privacy.

It was also emphasized that the corporate collaboration with OpenAI ensures accessibility and the protection of core principles in official processes.

Designed for Educators

Developed specifically by OpenAI in 2025, the program assists teachers with lesson planning, brainstorming, and administrative tasks.

Leah Belsky, the company's vice president of education, stated that their goal is to enable teachers to benefit from artificial intelligence while keeping educators at the center.

Expanding Scope and Free Access

OpenAI expanded the program last month to 55 additional school systems across 20 states, and the system now reaches over a hundred organizations across thirty states.

This program will continue to be offered free of charge to verified U.S. K-12 educators until June 2028.
