The establishment of the institute was announced at the opening of the sixth annual Human-Centered AI Conference held at the Malibu campus.
This two-day event was held concurrently with the inaugural Global Faith and AI Summit.

University President Jim Gash delivered the opening remarks, while Fabien Scalzo and Johnnie Moore served as co-chairs of the event.
The gathering featured figures such as Turing Award winner Judea Pearl, Katie Bouman, and Henry de Zoete, alongside numerous religious leaders.

The new institute will be housed within Seaver College, with the School of Public Policy also providing significant contributions to the process.
