Rabbit has introduced OS3, a new cloud-based AI operating system that users can run natively on Windows, Mac, and Linux devices without needing the R1 hardware.
Features of the OS3 Operating System
Developed by Rabbit, the OS3 agentic operating system can operate natively on Windows, Mac, and Linux devices using a cloud-based infrastructure. Users can add up to five devices under a single account and integrate their preferred artificial intelligence models. The system automatically determines which device, file, application, or model is necessary to complete a given task.
Access Methods and Device Compatibility
The new OS3 system is not limited to desktop applications; users can also access the system via a dedicated desktop website, messaging apps such as Telegram or iMessage, and even Rabbit's own R1 device. This aims to provide a flexible user experience across different platforms.
Discontinuation of R1 Production and New Hardware
Rabbit founder Jesse Lyu stated that the company has halted the production of R1 devices but has not completely abandoned AI hardware development. The company is now focused on a new cyberdeck device, which it plans to release in the coming months and which will run the OS3 operating system.
Data Privacy and Security Policies
Rabbit claims that the OS3 system will not store, copy, use, or sell user data. However, the company noted that it will continue to keep chat histories and memories derived from those chats on its own servers, and that other AI providers connected to the system will enforce their own privacy rules.
