The Economic Impacts and Investments of Artificial Intelligence
While artificial intelligence technology transforms investments and the labor market in the US economy, experts note that the growth impact of billions of dollars in spending remains limited.
As artificial intelligence technology spreads rapidly across the global and national economy, it continues to play a decisive role in corporate layoffs and massive multi-billion-dollar investments.
The Impact of Artificial Intelligence on the Labor Market
By July, companies across the US announced that 112,713 people had been laid off citing artificial intelligence. This figure accounts for approximately 24 percent of total layoffs.
In contrast, overall layoffs fell by 41 percent compared to last year to 477,033, while employment figures reportedly saw an increase.
Investments and Capital Flows
According to analyses by Goldman Sachs, artificial intelligence investments in the US are expected to reach approximately $600 billion this year. This figure corresponds to 2 percent of the country's gross domestic product.
Experts state that while these investments slightly suppress other technology spending and construction processes, they do not radically disrupt overall economic balances.
Economic Growth and Future Outlook
It is noted that artificial intelligence financing has reached nearly a quarter of total investable debt issuances, but its effect on the borrowing costs of other companies remains limited.
According to McKinsey estimates, global artificial intelligence spending is projected to rise between $5.3 trillion and $7 trillion by 2030.
