University of Chicago Announces Master's Program in Applied Artificial Intelligence

The University of Chicago has announced the establishment of its first degree program dedicated to artificial intelligence, the Master's Program in Applied Artificial Intelligence, and is preparing to welcome its first students in autumn 2027.
Structure and Duration of the Program
The nine-month full-time program announced by the University of Chicago aims to take students beyond basic artificial intelligence knowledge. Offered within the Physical Sciences Division and the Data Science Institute, this new educational opportunity aims to respond to the needs of the evolving technology world.
Curriculum and Courses
Students will complete four core courses: artificial intelligence fundamentals, advanced architectures, security and governance, and value creation. They will also have the opportunity to take five elective courses in focus areas such as applied artificial intelligence and frontier technologies.
Admission Timeline and Applications
The program's first cohort of students will begin their education in autumn 2027, and the application portal is scheduled to open in September 2026.
