US Department of State Issues 'Super Intelligence' Directive
Following the UN General Assembly address, the US State Department asked diplomats to use the term super intelligence instead of artificial intelligence in diplomatic correspondence.
Immediately following US President Donald Trump's speech at the United Nations General Assembly, a directive sent by the State Department to diplomats requested that the term artificial intelligence be replaced with super intelligence.
Directive Issued Following the Speech
An official step was taken by the State Department following US President Donald Trump's address at the United Nations General Assembly.
The statement noted that the name would be changed on the grounds that the artificial prefix in artificial intelligence makes the technology appear fake.
New Nomenclature Sent via Email
Diplomats in the Bureau of International Organizations were advised that the term super intelligence should be preferred over artificial intelligence.
An email sent by bureau employee Michael Drager requested that this new term be used in all official correspondence and statements.
Usage in UN Meetings
In line with this new decision, US representatives began using the term super intelligence at a UN Security Council meeting.
It remains unclear whether other units within the department or other government agencies will adopt this practice.
