New Era in Data Center Policies

Restrictions Introduced with Executive Order 22
Signed Executive Order 22 prohibits executive branch officials from signing non-disclosure agreements for data center projects. It also mandates the introduction of faster noise regulations and the review of backup generator operations at facilities.
Artificial Intelligence Working Group Established
Within the scope of the issued decree, an artificial intelligence task force was formed to evaluate how the state administration can combat issues such as workforce loss and data privacy concerns that citizens may encounter. This group will also determine how existing laws can be applied to harms caused by artificial intelligence.
Data Center Accountability Framework
In addition to the new executive order, Spanberger also introduced a new Data Center Accountability Framework outlining additional priorities for the state. This framework includes the elimination of right-granting approvals and the removal of certain state subsidies.
