Bulk Carrier Anna-S, Targeted by UAV Attack, Passes Through the Bosphorus

The Liberia-flagged bulk carrier Anna-S, which suffered heavy damage after being targeted by a UAV attack off the coast of Russia's Novorossiysk Port, was brought to Turkey and passed through the Bosphorus.

Attack Off Novorossiysk

The Liberia-flagged bulk carrier Anna-S, measuring 225 meters in length and 32 meters in width, was targeted by 5 UAVs on August 17 off the coast of Russia's Novorossiysk Port.

Following the attack, a fire broke out on the ship and the vessel sustained heavy damage.

Rescue of the Crew

All 21 crew members on board the endangered ship following the attack were safely rescued by the Malta-flagged bulk carrier Elina-B, which rapidly arrived at the scene.

Meanwhile, the Elina-B, which carried out the rescue operation, was also targeted by 2 UAVs about 5 hours later and continued its operations despite sustaining damage.

Bosphorus Transit and Tugs

The damaged ship Anna-S, brought to Turkey, proceeded under the escort of the General Directorate of Safety's Kurtarma 6, Kurtarma 7, Kurtarma 9, Kurtarma 14, and Nazım Tur tugboats.

Additionally, the tugboat Tedy, belonging to the Aras Salvage company which towed the ship from Russia to Turkey, also took part in the strait transit.

Reopening of Strait Traffic

Vessel traffic, which was temporarily suspended in both directions for security purposes during the ship's passage through the Bosphorus, was reopened after the transit was completed.

The Anna-S is planned to be taken to a shipyard for comprehensive maintenance and repair operations.
