10th Çanakkale Biennial Opens Its Doors with the Theme of Ebb & Flow
Featuring over 60 artists from nine countries, the 10th Çanakkale Biennial will meet art enthusiasts across 15 different venues extending from Çanakkale to Troy.
The 10th Çanakkale Biennial will take place between October 10 and November 20, 2026, under the theme "Metcezir // Ebb & Flow." Featuring more than 60 artists from 9 countries including Turkey, the event centers on the concepts of water, soil, memory, and transformation.
Ebb & Flow Theme and Wide Geography
Running from October 10 to November 20, 2026, the biennial focuses on the continuous transformation between water and soil. The title Ebb & Flow examines the relationships between nature, time, memory, and everyday life through the movement created by tides.
The event spans a wide geography extending from the city center to Troy, and from Ayvacık to Adatepe. Exhibitions and programs will meet visitors across 15 different venues.
Exhibitions and Events Across Diverse Venues
Exhibitions will be held at locations such as the Troy Museum, MAHAL, Balıkhane, Ayvacık Tartışık Village, and the Adatepe Olive Oil Museum. İda Blue and the Assos Güneşane Foundation are also among these venues.
In addition to exhibitions, the program will feature performances, panels, talks, and workshops. Contemporary art moves beyond the confines of galleries.
Rich Artist Selection and Committee
The artist and artwork selection for the biennial was prepared by a special committee. The committee includes Deniz Erbaş, Ebru Nalan Sülün, Halil Yoleri, and other figures.
Participants include well-known names such as Burçak Bingöl, Can Altay, Füreya Koral, Elif Uras, and Volkan Aslan. Artists from nine countries will participate.
Special Focus on Ceramic Heritage
One of the striking sections of the biennial is dedicated to Çanakkale's ceramic heritage. The relationship between water and soil is handled through the medium.
The selection at the Troy Museum is curated by Yasemin Ülgen. Ceramics are processed as part of the city's cultural and industrial memory.
Permanent Public Artwork
Artist Kay Aplin will produce a new work in Çanakkale within the scope of the biennial. This production will be left permanently in the city after the event.
CABININ's 20th Anniversary
The year 2026 marks the 20th anniversary of the founding of the Çanakkale Biennial Initiative. CABININ has been realizing contemporary art productions since 2006.
