33rd International Muğla Culture and Art Festival Begins
Within the scope of the events organized for the thirty-third time by the Menteşe Municipality, a festival fire was lit in the City Square and peace doves were released.
Hosted by the Menteşe Municipality and with the contributions of the Muğla Metropolitan Municipality, the 33rd International Muğla Culture and Art Festival opened its doors with an enthusiastic ceremony held in the City Square.
Festival Fire Lit in City Square
The opening of this year's International Muğla Culture and Art Festival, organized by the Menteşe Municipality, took place in the City Square.
The festival fire lit with the participation of protocol members and the peace doves released into the sky were followed with great interest by the citizens attending the ceremony.
Emphasis on Culture and Art from the Protocol
Mayor Gonca Köksal Aras stated that they are working to ensure that every child living in Menteşe has equal access to culture and art, and expressed her happiness in holding the 33rd edition of the festival, which started in 1984.
Menteşe District Governor Ali Edip Budan touched upon the importance of transferring culture and art to youth and children, while Muğla Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Ahmet Aras emphasized that the city's natural, cultural, and architectural fabric must be preserved.
Events Will Last for Four Days
Speaking at the program that started with folk dance performances, Menteşe Mayor Gonca Köksal Aras shared detailed information about the four-day festival program.
Within the scope of the festival, richly-contented events such as talks, concerts, art workshops, children's activities, exhibitions, theater, kite-flying, and the Karabağlar Melon Festival will be organized.

In the program held after the opening ceremony, Turkish folk music artists Emel Taşçıoğlu and Gülşen Kutlu took the stage.
The Neşet Ertaş folk songs performed by the artists provided a musical feast to the citizens of Muğla who filled the City Square.
