Three-Year Research and Preparation Process

Young designer Lane Zana undertook a comprehensive fashion project aimed at preserving and keeping traditional Kurdish attire alive, which faces the threat of being forgotten.

Completing her first collection after about three years of meticulous research and production, Zana referenced archive photos from various geographies.

Dunaduna, Meaning Rebirth

Naming her collection Dunaduna, which means rebirth in the Yarsan faith, the young designer aims to make garments that are no longer worn or have been forgotten visible once again.

The special collection draws attention with the faithful recreation of older models in their original form.

Motifs Specific to the Urmia Region

Cultural motifs specific to the Urmia region stand out in the collection, which consists of a total of 42 designs.

Additionally, traditional male attire, sewn in loyalty to the originals, finds a significant place in the collection.

Aiming to Transmit Cultural Heritage to the Future

Emphasizing that preserving the authenticity of cultural heritage is her primary priority, Zana shared the details of her project.

The designer states that her goal is not to close traditional clothing off to other cultures, but rather to pass the historical texture on to future generations.
