Art Exhibition Reflecting Vietnam's Nation-Building Era Opens in Hanoi
The Vietnam National Fine Arts Museum has brought together over 50 works depicting the country's struggle for economic recovery and development between 1950 and 1980 in the exhibition "Memories of Unforgettable Years".
The Vietnam National Fine Arts Museum in Vietnam's capital, Hanoi, is hosting an exhibition titled "Memories of Unforgettable Years" focusing on the country's national reconstruction and working life. Opened on August 25 as part of the 81st anniversary of the National Day of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam, the exhibition features more than 50 artworks reflecting the period between the 1950s and 1980s.
An Artistic Look at a Historical Period
The opening ceremony of the exhibition, organized on the occasion of the 81st anniversary of the National Day of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam, was attended by Deputy Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism Hoang Dao Cuong. The exhibition aims to introduce the public to the artistic values of a special period in Vietnamese history.
In his opening speech, Nguyen Anh Minh, Director of the Vietnam National Fine Arts Museum, emphasized that the themes of labor, production, and nation-building have always been a fundamental source of inspiration for many generations of artists.
Different Techniques and Themes
The exhibition features works produced using various materials and techniques such as oil paint, lacquer, silk, pigment, and pencil. These works take viewers back to the country's periods of economic recovery, building a new life, and national development.
Among the works addressing agriculture and rural life, pieces such as Nguyen Van Binh's "Sowing", Nguyen Tu Nghiem's "Irrigation to Fight Drought", and Ta Thuc Binh's "On the Pastures of Dong Giao Farm" realistically reflect the rhythm of production.
War, Industry, and Daily Life
The atmosphere of the period when North Vietnam was both fighting and producing comes to life in works such as Dao Duc's "Viet Bac (Building Roads)" and Nguyen Nhu Huan's "Resupplying the Central Highlands". In works reflecting the industrialization period, such as "Hai Phong Shipyard Assembly Team" and "Miners", the image of the worker comes to the forefront.
The exhibition can be visited at the Vietnam National Fine Arts Museum, located at 66 Nguyen Thai Hoc Street, until September 8, 2026.
