Ayvalık Disabled Persons Culture, Art and Sports Festival Begins
The traditional festival, held for the thirty-fourth time this year in Balıkesir's Ayvalık district, brought together hundreds of individuals with special needs from different cities of Turkey.
The thirty-fourth Disabled Persons Culture, Art and Sports Festival, realized in cooperation with the Turkish Confederation of Disabled Persons and the Ayvalık Municipality in Balıkesir's Ayvalık district, has started with a ceremony.
The Start of the Festival
Within the scope of the Disabled Persons Culture, Art and Sports Festival held for the thirty-fourth time in the Ayvalık district of Balıkesir province, two hundred individuals with special needs coming from various cities of Turkey are being hosted.
Opening Ceremony
The district protocol, representatives of political parties and non-governmental organizations, as well as numerous individuals with special needs and their families, attended the opening ceremony held at Cumhuriyet Square.
Statements by the Mayor
Ayvalık Mayor Mesut Ergin emphasized that the event, which has been carried out uninterruptedly for thirty-four years, reflects the city's culture of solidarity and drew attention to the importance of equal living conditions.
Events and Cortege
Following the speeches, performances prepared by the students of the Ayvalık Municipality Special Children Education Center drew great interest from the audience, and the opening was concluded with an enthusiastic cortege march.
Six-Day Program
In the organization, which will continue for six days, dental care will be provided for individuals with special needs, workshops will be organized, and a campfire will be lit on the Sarımsaklı coast on the final day.
