Ayvalık International Film Festival opened its doors for the fifth time

Organized by the Seyir Association in cooperation with the Ayvalık Municipality, the Ayvalık International Film Festival met with cinema enthusiasts for the fifth time this year.

The opening ceremony of the festival was held

The Ayvalık International Film Festival opened its doors for cinema enthusiasts for the fifth time under the auspices of the Seyir Association.

The opening of the organization, carried out in cooperation with the Ayvalık Municipality, was celebrated with a ceremony held at sunset in Paşalimanı and at the Büyük Park Amphitheatre.

Thanks were extended to supporters

At the opening ceremony, festival director Azize Tan and Ayvalık Mayor Mesut Ergin each gave speeches, sharing their feelings and thoughts.

Azize Tan emphasized that the public, local tradespeople, audiences, and the cinema industry have made a massive contribution to the festival reaching its fifth year.

Award given to future filmmakers

The Kahve İçen Yorulmaz Future Filmmakers Award, worth 200,000 TL and given for the first time this year with the support of Kurukahveci Mehmet Efendi, found its recipient.

The award was presented to Melik Kuru, the director of the film Cemetery of Unnamed Works, honoring young filmmakers.

First screening was held

Following the opening ceremony, the Turkey premiere of Pedro Almodóvar's new production Bitter Christmas (Amarga Navidad), which competed at the Cannes Film Festival, took place.

Organized without competition and red carpets, the festival will continue to host cinema enthusiasts until September 20.
