Bozcaada International Ecological Documentary Festival Begins

The 13th BIFED is bringing ecology enthusiasts together in Bozcaada from October 7-11, 2026. Films selected from hundreds of submissions from 90 countries will meet with audiences.

The Bozcaada International Ecological Documentary Festival (BIFED) is opening its doors to film lovers for the thirteenth time from October 7-11, 2026. Environment-themed productions from all over the world will be screened free of charge at the event, which is realized on a voluntary basis.

Festival Theme and Event Venues

Screenings at the Public Education Center and Salhane are accompanied by director Q&A sessions, workshops, meet-ups, and a special exhibition.

This year's program addresses environmental losses and the decisions leading to these losses around the concept of responsibility.

Record Applications and Film Selection

More than 600 applications from 90 countries were made to the organization, which is held on a voluntary basis, and 44 films were selected as a result of the evaluations realizadas.

All screenings, Q&A sessions, and workshops within the scope of the festival are offered completely free of charge to audiences.

Visual Design and Awards

The festival poster, prepared by artist and designer Seda Portakal, reflects this year's main theme with a successful visual language.

As a result of the jury evaluations, the Fethi Kayaalp Grand Award, Madame Melpo Award, İdil Schneider-Bulut Award, and Naci Güçhan Award will find their owners.

Turkish Productions and Side Events

In the International Competition category, the Turkish productions "Kuru Taşın Başı" directed by Yeşim Ustaoğlu and Selen Heinz, and "Gelgit" by Evrim İnci are included.

Throughout the festival, various workshops, exhibitions, Q&A sessions, and sensory ecology walks will be held with the participation of expert names.
