Eight new Neolithic sites discovered in Taş Tepeler Project
Culture and Tourism Minister Mehmet Nuri Ersoy announced that the number of Neolithic sites in Taş Tepeler has reached 20 and disclosed the restoration budget for cultural assets in the earthquake zone.
During a meeting held in Kahramanmaraş, Culture and Tourism Minister Mehmet Nuri Ersoy announced that 8 new sites have been discovered in the Taş Tepeler region, which also encompasses Göbeklitepe, bringing the total number of Neolithic sites in the area to 20.
New Discoveries in Taş Tepeler
As a result of the work carried out under the Taş Tepeler Project, which includes Göbeklitepe, 8 previously unknown sites have been discovered. Thus, the total number of Neolithic settlements and sites in the region has risen to 20.
Large-Scale Investment in the Earthquake Zone
A major investment program of approximately 34 billion liras is being implemented to revive cultural heritage in the provinces affected by the earthquake. Significant resources have been allocated for museums, libraries, and cultural event spaces within this scope.
Repair of Historical Buildings Continues
Restoration work on registered monuments under the responsibility of the Directorate General of Foundations is proceeding according to the planned schedule. While hundreds of damaged artifacts have been repaired and reopened for use, targeted dates have also been announced for the remaining structures.
Grant Support for Private Property Owners
Direct grant support is provided to citizens for projects prepared for privately owned registered buildings in the earthquake region. Registered buildings are being preserved through financial support allocated for project preparation and implementation phases.
Library Spaces Being Expanded
The library infrastructure damaged in the disaster in Kahramanmaraş is being renewed and expanded. With the completion of the planned new library projects, it is aimed to increase the total library space in the city exponentially.
Culture Road Festival Expands
The scope of the Turkey Culture Road Festival is being expanded in the coming period by adding new cities. The program is planned to be disseminated in a way that covers a large portion of the country's population.
