Elazığ Archaeology and Ethnography Museum Opens in Its New Location
Reorganized with a modern approach in its historic building, the museum brings thousands of years of civilizational heritage to visitors.
The Elazığ Archaeology and Ethnography Museum, which will carry the thousands-year-old civilizational accumulation of Elazığ and Anatolia into the future, has officially opened its doors with a ceremony attended by Minister of Culture and Tourism Mehmet Nuri Ersoy.
Historic Building and Modern Design
The Elazığ Archaeology and Ethnography Museum, which has begun serving in its historic building constructed in 1885, has been redesigned in accordance with contemporary museology standards.
Rich Collection of Artifacts
The museum displays 934 artifacts in its archaeology section and 482 artifacts in its ethnography section. Additionally, 522 coins located in the numismatics section are presented for visitors to view.
Minister of Culture and Tourism Mehmet Nuri Ersoy stated during the opening that a total of approximately 2,000 artifacts are being preserved and exhibited in this new center.
Special Area for Çaydaçıra
Within the newly established museum, there is also a specially designed section dedicated to the Çaydaçıra folk dance, one of the important cultural symbols of the city of Elazığ.
Harput Inner Castle Conquest Mosque
Immediately following the museum's opening ceremony, Minister of Culture and Tourism Mehmet Nuri Ersoy also performed the opening of the Harput Inner Castle Conquest Mosque.
