Festival Uniting Kayseri's History and Culture Begins
The comprehensive festival to be held in Kayseri will feature exhibitions, theatrical plays, children's musicals, traditional workshops, and talks.
A festival journey featuring rich events ranging from history to art is beginning in Kayseri; within the scope of the program, many exhibitions, theatrical plays, and traditional craft workshops will meet with art lovers.
Historical Artifacts and Valuable Collections Will Be Exhibited
At the Kayseri Citadel Archaeology Museum, the Sacred Relics of the Ottoman Empire, Living Heritage, and Household exhibitions will be opened to visitors. On the 509th anniversary of Yavuz Sultan Selim bringing the sacred relics to Istanbul, thirty-seven works selected from different collections will be exhibited.
At the War of Independence Museum, manuscript works and rare printed copies surviving from the Seljuk and Beyliks periods will meet with enthusiasts.
Traditional Arts and Saddlebag Exhibition
In the exhibition titled 'The Carried Memory of Culture: Saddlebag', to be held at Sanat Melikgazi, eighty pieces ranging from seventy to one hundred and twenty years old from different regions of Anatolia will be featured.
The Living Heritage Kayseri Exhibition will highlight traditional crafts such as marbling, Islamic calligraphy, rug weaving, rag doll making, stonemasonry, and mother-of-pearl inlay.
Theatrical Plays and Children's Musicals
In the festival's theater program, 'The Epic of Keşanlı Ali', written by Haldun Taner and directed by Boğaçhan Sözmen, will be staged at the Kayseri State Theater Stage.
For children, productions such as the Elsa Children's Musical, The Town Musicians of Bremen, The Ballad of Karagöz, and Where is Elsa? Detective Olaf on an Adventure will be performed.
Workshops and Talks
At the Kayseri Citadel Archaeology Museum, workshops such as block printing, marbling, rosary making, leatherwork, naht (wood relief carving), rag doll making, tablet weaving (çarpana), dorak stone carving, and rug weaving will be held accompanied by masters.
Within the scope of the Living Heritage Talk, the production techniques of the geographically indicated Yahyalı rugs, which have a history of two hundred and fifty years, will be discussed.
