Filmekimi, organized by the Istanbul Foundation for Culture and Arts (İKSV), is preparing to meet film lovers in Istanbul, Ankara, İzmir, and Mersin. Ten prominent films selected from among the 43 works to be presented to the audience at the event have been announced.

Festival Calendar and Cities

The film gathering organized by the Istanbul Foundation for Culture and Arts (İKSV) is preparing to appear before film lovers in four different major cities of Turkey.

The organization will be held in Istanbul from October 9 to 18, in Ankara from October 15 to 18, and in İzmir and Mersin from October 22 to 25.

Standout Productions and Directors

Ten unmissable films have been selected for cinema audiences out of the event's total of 43 works to be screened. The films included in the selection consist of award-winning and remarkable productions from international festivals.

Fjord and Naza Films

Directed by Cristian Mungiu and winner of the Palme d'Or at Cannes, the film Fjord focuses on a cultural conflict centering on a couple migrating from Romania to Norway.

Naza, the production by the duo Yuval Abraham and Rachel Szor that won the Special Jury Prize in Venice, documents the Israeli state's policies in Gaza through secret interviews with soldiers.

Wild Horse Nine and Iron Child

In the film Wild Horse Nine by Martin McDonagh, two CIA agents assigned to Easter Island before the Pinochet coup in Chile confront their past.

Adapted from his own story by Louis Clichy, the animated film Iron Child tells the story of little Christophe, who constantly falls, and his process of wearing an iron corset.

Me, Rocky and Paper Tiger

Brought to the screen by Peter Farrely, the production Me, Rocky examines the creation process of Sylvester Stallone's film Rocky and its journey to the Oscars.

Directed by James Greey and starring Adam Driver, Scarlett Johansson, and Miles Teller, Paper Tiger tells the story of two brothers working on behalf of the Russian mafia in New York in 1986.

Unknown Woman and A Long Winter

Directed by May el-Toukhy and winner of the Golden Lion in Venice, Unknown Woman is a production inspired by true events set in Copenhagen after World War II.

Adapted from a story by Colm Tóibín and bearing the signature of Andrew Haigh, A Long Winter is set in the Colorado mountains in the 1950s.

Fatherland and Model Soldier

Paweł Pawlikowski's film Fatherland, which shared the Best Director award at Cannes, deals with Nobel laureate author Thomas Mann's return to Germany in 1949.

Stéphane Brizé's film Model Soldier, which won the Best Screenplay award in Venice, focuses on the clash between corporate interests and employee rights.
