Bringing together the works of seven photographers from different faiths, the "Friday, Saturday, Sunday" exhibition opens its doors on September 14 at the Beyoğlu Üç Horan Armenian Church. Organized within the scope of European Heritage Days, the event blends stories of faith and culture.
Opening Date and Venue of the Exhibition
Consisting of the works of seven photographers from different religions and denominations, the "Friday, Saturday, Sunday" exhibition meets art lovers at the Beyoğlu Üç Horan Armenian Church in Istanbul. The collective, which has been exhibited in many different countries and cities since its inception, was brought to life through the initiative of Laki Vingas.
As the event opens its doors on September 14, the address of the exhibition was shared as Hüseyinağa Neighborhood, Sahne Street, 24/1, 34435 Beyoğlu / Istanbul.
Identities of the Photographers and Collective Structure
Among the names whose works are featured in the exhibition are Berge Arabian, Alberto Modiano, Emine Ülkerim, Mıgırdiç Arzivyan, Marta Sömek, Niko Manginas, and Nathalie Ritzmann. These seven photographers blend stories from different faiths and cultures in a joint work.
Keeping the Memory of Nikos Manginas Alive
Istanbul Ecumenical Patriarchate photographer and journalist Nikolaos (Nikos) Manginas passed away during the pandemic process. Through this exhibition, the photographers aim both to keep their friend's name alive and to share his work with broader audiences.
Events within the Scope of European Heritage Days
Being organized for the nineteenth time, the exhibition takes place within the scope of European Heritage Days, which hosts more than sixty free events for nine days in Beyoğlu. This organization, held between September 12 and 20, is maintained at an international level.
International Theme and Past Exhibitions
Organized this year internationally with the theme "Heritage at Risk: Revive, Insist, Imagine," the events make Beyoğlu's multi-layered historical and cultural heritage visible. Opening their first exhibition in December 2015 at the Sismanoglio Megaro Cultural Center belonging to the Greek Consulate, the group has appeared before audiences eighteen times to date, exhibiting their works in domestic exhibitions as well as in Athens, Thessaloniki, Volos, and the island of Rhodes in Greece. The exhibition can be visited until September 20.
