The Pavli Fair, held in the district of Pehlivanköy in Kırklareli, witnessed a very heavy influx of visitors on its final day.
Known as one of Turkey's oldest fairs, the number of people who came to the district for this long-standing event exceeded 400,000.
Lasted for Four Days
The Pavli Fair, which started by the decree of Sultan Abdulhamid II and was celebrated for the 116th time this year, continued for four days.
Throughout the event, trade, entertainment, and cultural heritage came together to offer visitors a distinct atmosphere.
Long Traffic Queues Formed
In Pehlivanköy, where citizens flocked, severe traffic congestion occurred on the roads due to the fair, especially on the final day.
Long queues formed on the roads where vehicle traffic occasionally came to a standstill, and the crowd was clearly visible in aerial footage.
Traditional Accommodation Methods Continue
Some citizens who arrived at the fair days in advance created a striking image by staying in the beds of tractors and pickup trucks.
These individuals, turning the truck beds into makeshift homes, continued to uphold the unique traditional practices of the fair this year as well.
Evaluation from the Mayor
Pehlivanköy Mayor Gündüz Hoşgör stated that the fair was held with high participation this year and experienced an increase compared to the previous year.
Hoşgör expressed their satisfaction at hosting over 400,000 guests despite being a small district with a population of 1,700.
