History of Beyoğlu explored within the scope of MGallery Heritage Days
Inspired by the European Heritage Days tradition, the event brought to light the unknown stories of Istanbul's deep-rooted Beyoğlu district.
Born from the European Heritage Days tradition that originated in France, MGallery Heritage Days brought Beyoğlu's rich cultural heritage and legends stretching from the past to the present back to light with a special walking and gathering program held in Istanbul this year.
Background of the Event
Inspired by the European Heritage Days tradition celebrated every September and originating in France, MGallery Heritage Days aims to make cities' cultural textures and local stories visible.
Hidden Treasures of Beyoğlu
Organized by the MGallery Collection and led by tour guide and author Mois Gabay, the event began with a nod to the exterior facades and lesser-known interior stories of Gümüşsuyu's iconic apartments.
Cultural Memory Walk
A comprehensive route was followed stretching into Beyoğlu's social and cultural memory through the traces of Taksim Square, Aya Triada Church, historical passages, culinary stops, as well as Yeşilçam culture and theaters.
Finale with a Cultural Menu
The finale of the day took place with a dinner held at Art & Kitchen Restaurant, bringing all these discovered special stories of Beyoğlu to the table accompanied by a rich cultural menu.
